The finite proving understanding

In Ra’s Law of One and many subsequent channelings, P.94 discussion of paths refers to service to others and service to self. Yet here Ra contrasts the infinite path with the finite proving understanding… of those who seek with measure and pen. 3.9

I have walked that finite path: Comparison. Weighing, such as of contributions or offenses. Persuasion. My upbringing and education had modeled these thoughts and actions, but as Ra clearly states, they are markers of a dead-end road. ACIM, too, points out that comparison is a tool of the ego. The ego’s only destination is another spin on the wheel of catalyst.

Ra’s mental disciplines 5.2 guide us to a fuller perspective on ourselves and others. When I know that each being is part of the All, it follows that a judgment of myself or another is possible only in ignorance of the rest of the picture. Though traces of this old ego-based patterning remain, I can no longer entertain illusions of judgment for any significant length of time. I can no longer pedestalize or trivialize my own actions or that of another. Proving loses its attraction in the light of each person’s free will to choose for himself, in his own timing.

I have removed the slash from proving understanding because I believe that Ra is referring to a type or level of understanding, not to a set of poles (as a slash may indicate). The slash was added in transcription: the audio does not indicate a slash.

The complex mind

Understanding at the level of the infinite path 3.9 requires the use of the intuition to inform intelligence, or in other words, reuniting the mind. This study has been expanded and posted separately at the Complex Mind.

Science and religion’s surprising similarities

A mere two sentences 3.9 inspired further exploration about the usually unacknowledged connections between apparent foes.

Blending distortions

At the beginning of Session 3, Ra guides the L/L Research group about who may be present during channeling: We caution you to guard against those who are not wishing to serve others above all else from taking part in the beginning or in lending their distortions of mind/body/spirit complex to any session as we should then be unable to properly blend our distortions with those of this instrument. 3.1

Ra is speaking of service to the extent of sacrifice or martyrdom, Carla’s primary distortion 92.3 and thus — since the Ra material is filtered through her beliefs — the primary distortion (by which I mean bias, corruption) of the Ra material. The entities of Ra, too, were biased toward unbalanced use of the green ray, and corrected this folly upon leaving physicality. 42.6

Effectually

Ra can know things about each of us that even we aren’t aware of, 15.25 can see the potential future, 10.8 11.19 and can scan your mind to access a film or book, 33.10 41.23 yet Ra cannot effectually discern the distortions of the societal mind/body/spirit complex of your peoples. 3.6 How could that be?

After several days of wondering, I realized that the clue was in the word effectually: with the intended effect. Ra is saying, I think, that discerning the distortions of others would not have a useful effect.

I have thoroughly wrestled with this wisdom. On the one hand, I believe that recognizing distortions is a road — even the road to truth. Identifying key distortions of the channeling group has been instrumental in separating truth from bias. And awareness of our own distortions is a critical step in shedding the ego-based thoughts that veil us from who we really are.

Here, though, Ra refers to discerning of the distortions of society, perhaps with an intended effect of aiding society in transcending those distortions. Is it ever possible to fully, accurately discern the distortions of another? We may recognize that confusing or self-sabotaging behavior is the effect of distortion, but can we really know the web of contorted beliefs from which the manifestations spring? And does it help to inform another of what we believe to be his distortions, or must he discover this for himself? Ra is well aware of the near-hopelessness of attempting to teach. 1.10

Nevertheless, Ra does discern societal distortions — the archetypes, especially the matrix cards, illustrate the planetary logos’ foundational distortions — and does speak of the distortions of the channeling group. But to what effect? For example, Don still believed by taking his own life he could protect Carla. Still, near-hopelessness 1.10 is not hopelessness, as we who have learned from this material are well aware.

Moving mountains

[O]nly the one individual, purified of all flaws, could move a mountain, Ra says, yet In the case of mass understanding of unity, each individual may contain an acceptable amount of distortion and yet the mass mind could move mountains. 3.10 

Clearly each of us is a long way from being purified of all flaws, but do we have access to this great power through the combined, or societal memory complex mind/body/spirit understanding of the Law of One? 3.10

I imagine that combined power is possible with fourth density’s more unified mind. 16.50 I wonder if it could apply also in third density, such as with the doubling effect through which Those of like mind which together seek shall far more surely find. 83.17

The most convincing example I am aware of is Findhorn. In a harsh climate and a rocky, barren landscape, a spiritually-connected group of people established a thriving garden and intentional community. With unity consciousness and shared intent, they accomplished the miraculous.

Intelligence = balance?

When Ra states that the mind/body/spirit complex retains the intelligence of each ascendingly intelligent or balanced body, 3.8 can we infer that this thing we call intelligence is closely related to balance?

The concept of balance is central to Ra’s teachings. Personal evolution or ascension is primary described by Ra and other sources as the opening and balancing of the energy centers (chakras). And what is the energy that flows through the chakras? Ra calls it intelligent energy, 15.9 the kinetic expression of unity. 27.4–5

Deciphering the laws

Ra states that he vibrates now with the Law of One — the sixth density level — and seeks the Law of Foreverness 3.10 or timelessness. 41.16 If the Law of One can also be stated as unity, 16.21 what exactly is Ra seeking? What is the difference between the Law of One and the Law of Foreverness?

The context offered in Session 3 is among the clearest of the entire contact: Those who vibrate with the Law of One seek the Law of Foreverness. We cannot say what is beyond this dissolution of the unified self with all that there is, for we still seek to become all that there is, and still we are Ra. 3.10

My interpretation of this statement is that Ra is describing his current self-concept as the unified self, a self-concept that will at some point dissolve into or merge with all that there is. Perhaps this unified self is the identity that is not present at the seventh level. 16.22 Identity seems to be a self-concept or individualization. Perhaps Ra’s current unity 16.21 differs from Foreverness 3.10 in that it retains a sense of many-ness: Thus the one intelligent infinity invested itself in an exploration of many-ness, 13.12 a finite concept. 1.7 Apparently all that there is 3.10 is another quantum leap of unification beyond the Infinite Creator. 4.20

The association of the Law of One with love/light, light/love 4.20 seems to be another difference between sixth and seventh density or the Law of One and the Law of Foreverness, since I interpret love/light, light/love as a polarity, and how could polarity manifest within a oneness that transcends unity?

Ra says little about foreverness. A few of statements about timelessness appear to describe first density or pre-first density more so than seventh density. It’s cyclical, so that adds up! Yes, maybe so. Q’uo (and two other Confederation sources) addressed foreverness several times, including in 2017 when Q’uo said that it and the Law of One are the same, with foreverness being a more intense experience and expression of that which you know of as the Law of One. Hmm.

I feel unsatisfied by a description of seventh density as a more intense version of the sixth. But words are limited! And the higher densities are beyond description or understanding! Yes, maybe so.

Still, if it is not possible to clearly differentiate between two Laws, what is the point of the formal names? And Laws, no less — capital-Ls and all! (It should be noted that capitalization was not specified in the spoken channeling.) The terminology feels like a Crowley-esque reification. Furthermore, the one actual law, according to Ra, is the law that still holds onto identity and a vestige of polarity. 22.27 These discrepencies and structural excess suggest to me the influence of the channeling group.

Infinite rock-ness

Every speck of unity is intelligent, Ra says, including the atom and the rock. Physical material can be directed by communicating with that intelligence, through cooperation of the infinite understanding of the Creator indwelling in the living rock. 3.8 This is how the pyramid’s blocks were moved, Ra tells Don. 3.8

Spirit Wisdom, a Seth-like channeling by Ramón Stevens, also speaks about the manipulation of the physical through thought: Over time, as the basic pulse of the planet accelerates, matter becomes lighter, meaning the vibratory patterns behind matter contain less bulk, are less governed by the strong gravitational pull, and are therefore more receptive to manipulation by consciousness. P.166

Stevens’ source, called Alexander, makes clear that the separation we perceive is not actually present. Thoughts, objects, mind, vibration — it’s all the same basic stuff as your consciousness, Alexander says. P.158

We are imprinted with the concept of intelligence as an individual quality: my intelligence, your intelligence, and even rock’s intelligence! Just like everything else, though, intelligence is one.

The wild idea of communicating from human to rock becomes more tenable when reframed in the truth that it is actually a communication from the One to the One. 2.1 There is no separation, no distance. When one can speak to that intelligence, the finite energy of the physical, or chemical, rock/body is put into contact with that infinite power which is resident in the more well-tuned bodies, be they human or rock. 3.8
