Ra Session 2 Study

Greetings

I am Ra. I greet you in the love and the light of the Infinite Creator. I communicate now. With these words (or the occasional slight variation, like we rather than I), Ra opens 99 of the 106 sessions. In five of the seven exceptions, Ra corrects errors, offers advice for Carla’s pain flares, asks that the circle of One be rewalked, and requests adjustments to the instrument and the appurtenances.

The other two exceptions are the cosmic sermonette of the first session 1.0 and Session 2’s opening message, in which, after an almost-standard greeting, Ra explains his mode of communication:

Queries are in order in your projections of mind distortion at this time/space. Thusly would I assure this group that my own social memory complex has one particular method of communicating with those few who may be able to harmonize their distortions with ours, and that is to respond to queries for information. We are comfortable with this format. May the queries now begin. 2.0

Ra spoke through Carla with precise and sometimes archaic vocabulary. Descriptive phrases often replaced common nouns. Unusual sentence structures and a dry delivery combined for an intellectual, sometimes robotic feel, as seems appropriate for the communication of a sixth density entity as parsed into third density speech. Together, these characteristics encourage a slow and careful reading that is rewarded with discovery of layered meaning.

This particular comment, though far less complex than most of what Ra has to say, amuses me with its quirkiness. In casual speech, the same ideas could have been delivered as You’ve got questions. Most folks aren’t on our wavelength, but on the rare occasion that someone is, we’ve got answers. That's how we roll. Ask away! — which, of course, sounds nothing like Ra.

In his last comment of the session, Ra explains why he requests questions: it is not our understanding that we have the right/duty to share our perceptions on any subject but philosophy without direct question. 2.6 So, Ra’s cosmic sermonette and other teachings and interpretations of the Law of One are okay by Ra, whereas history 2.2 and advice 12.25 are two areas where Ra treads carefully.

The One to the One

In Session 1, Ra offers a few of his motivations for contacting the channeling group:

The possibility of communication, as you would call it, from the One to the One through distortion acceptable for meaning is the reason we contacted this group. 2.1

Ra contacts the channeling group simply because it would be possible to communicate with the L/L Research trio. Distortion is a given, but meaning could still make it through. Carla was a capable and devoted channel. Don and Jim supported her. Don, Carla, and Jim were among the few humans who knew that telepathic communication was possible. They desired it. When it happened, rather than being leery or doubtful, they wished to continue. And they were open to Ra’s message.

These conditions enabled the contact. Ra had watched and waited for years (of Earthly time) for the opportunity to arise:

We have searched for an instrument of the proper parameters of distortion in mind/body/spirit complex and supporting and understanding group of mind/body/spirit complexes to accept this information with minimal distortion and maximal desire to serve for some of your years. 6.20

Ra describes the contact as no less than a communication from the All to the All. Since Ra’s language is precise, phrasing like this is my hint to look deeper. And so I notice that Ra is representing the Law of One with his statement. From a third density perspective, Ra is offering ideas through a channel, something like a phone line. From Ra’s perspective, though, communication is not only self to self, but One to One, Creator to Creator. Even a phone call, whether across dimensions or across town, is sacramental in the light of the indigo ray. 26.38 48.7

Ra’s audience

If the Law of One resonates with you, chances are that you’re one of the few who will grasp, without significant distortion, that which we communicate. 2.1 Both Ra and Don were glad for you to have that opportunity, though their motivations were different.

From day one of the contact, Don saw the Ra contact as the proof of alien activity that he had long sought. Don immediately viewed the Ra contact as his life’s work, and was eager to get a book into your hands. In his first question of Session 2, Don asks Ra to work with him in the making of a book. Ra sees this possibility as most helpful 2.1 for a reason that I would not have anticipated:

if it be your desire to share our communications with others we have the distortion towards a perception that this would be most helpful in regularizing and crystallizing your own patterns of vibration upon the levels of experience which you call the life. 2.1

Ra is hopeful that in sharing the material, Don, Carla, and Jim would remain focused on Ra’s message — as Don and Carla did, and as Jim continues to do. It’s about the channeling group. Ra speaks of the helpfulness to potential readers only tangentially: If one is illuminated, are not all illuminated? 2.1

For Ra, the growth of these three people is more than sufficient. We are content, as we have said, to be able to aid in the evolution of one of your peoples, Ra assures when Don expresses concerns about getting the book into the hands of wanderers. Whatever efforts you make cannot disappoint us, for that number already exceeds one. 37.2–3 I believe Ra is speaking specifically of the three members of the channeling group.

For Ra, each of us who now studies the material is icing on the cake. This is not a diminishing of Ra’s care for our learning and evolution; it is a recognition that Ra was speaking first and foremost to Don, Carla, and Jim. It is easy to read the material as communicating to each of us in every situation — and Ra’s comments often are broadly applicable. But far more often than I initially realized, Ra is directly addressing the channeling group, offering information specifically to them.

If we misinterpret, we misapply that which was appropriate for a certain person in a certain circumstance. Our challenge is to recognize context, and when we do, there is much to glean from the personal information and the universal information alike. We can know that all is one, while at the same time understanding that we are each unique.

Spurious

Don’s first request 2.1 for Ra’s history goes unanswered. When Don repeats his request, Ra explains that the historical information is unimportant and is not what he is there to teach:

We are aware that you find our incarnate, as you call it, state of interest. We waited for a second query so as to emphasize that the time/space of several thousand of your years creates a spurious type of interest. Thus in giving this information, we ask the proper lack of stress be placed upon our experiences in your local space/time. The teach/learning which is our responsibility is philosophical rather than historical. 2.2

Spurious is, for me, one of many Ra vocabulary words — words that I am aware of because of the material. Etymonline states that that spurious is from the Latin spurius, meaning illegitimate, false. The definition that most informs my understanding of Ra’s comment is apparently but not actually valid.

Don imagines that Ra’s history is important background information which reveals something about Ra. Does it? From Ra’s answer, we learn that 11,000 years ago in Egypt, Ra desired to aid, to serve, to teach/learn. And we know that Ra continues to desire to aid, to serve, to teach/learn, a motivation due in part to Ra’s interpretation of the catalyst that unfolded in Egypt. At most, this fills in a bit of context. Ra’s history has no genuine bearing on who Ra is; thus Ra refers to the information as spurious and asks that it be given the proper lack of stress. 2.2

I think that this lesson extends to our personal history, and even our personal present. Our cultural imprinting trains us to believe that we are our past, that we are indelibly shaped by nature and nurture. Truthfully, though, we are born anew in every moment. The past is relevant only to the extent that we make it so. The cultural etiquette of showing interest in external details of a person’s past or present is based on similarly spurious ideas, I believe. We are not our childhood, nor the work we do, nor our interests — even our name does not actually matter. A true sharing from the One to the One requires only the recognition of the spirit.
